Chris is a third generation farmer growing grain, cotton and hay, using overhead irrigation.  He is the secretary of the Gowrie Oakey Creek Irrigators Association Inc. which uses Toowoomba effluent and runoff for irrigation, a northern panel member of the Grains Research and Development Corporation, and an advisory board member of the Australian Agricultural College Corporation.

Chris is a Justice of the Peace, a Rural Fire Warden, a member of Rotary and holds an Associate Diploma in Farm Management from the University of Queensland.
